Guide to Insuring your Motorhome
This guide to insuring your motorhome will hopefully help you to ask the right questions when looking for the kind of cover that is right for you. Owning a motorhome can be a passport to freedom. The ability to hit the road whenever you want and take in the countryside or head out for adventure with your home comforts on board, is made all the better when you have the assurance that comes from good motorhome insurance cover.
As with any insurance, asking the right questions as you shop around, is crucial to getting the cover you need according to your circumstances and budget.
How much experience does your insurer have?
Finding the right insurer who understands the issues specific to motorhome cover, can really make the difference if the time comes when you need to make a claim. With over nineteen years of experience and 25,000 policyholders in the UK, Park Home Assist has a solid record of selecting the best motorhome insurance out there.
Do you cover older drivers?
Many motorhome owners are over retirement age so it is important to find cover that takes this into account. Park Home Assist will provide the best cover for ages between 30 and 74.
Do you require garaging?
Some insurance will insist on garaging before you can be covered. At Park Home Assist, we realise that this may prove difficult or impossible for many motorhome owners and so no garaging is required to get our cover.
Is European travel covered?
Heading further afield, knowing you have your home comforts with you is what a motorhome is all about. European cover can sometimes add to your premium. Cover for 180 days when you are in Europe is provided as standard with Park Home Assist.
Are my personal effects, camping equipment or awnings covered?
Motorhomes can unfortunately, be vulnerable to theft or damage when on the road, especially anything external to the vehicle. With £3,500 cover for camping equipment, awnings and personal effects included, you should be well covered.
Is there a mileage restriction?
It is important to check the mileage restrictions on your cover. With up to 10,000 miles per annum on your Park Home Assist policy, even the keenest motorhome traveller should be covered.
Do I need a GPS tracker?
Many policies today will require you to have a tracker fitted in your motorhome. With Park Home Assist you are only required to have one in vehicles worth over £40,000.
Is the full value of my motorhome covered?
You may want to check the upper limit of cover on any policy you are looking at. With vehicles of up to 2999cc engine capacity and up to £60,000 value covered by Park Home Assist motorhome insurance, most vehicles can be insured.
What if my windscreen is damaged?
Miles and miles on the road, on country lanes and less travelled routes can put your windscreen at greater risk of flying pebbles and grit. Windscreen cover is standard with Park Home Assist. You may also be interested to know that there is just £90 excess to pay if you use an approved repairer.
Can I protect my no claims bonus?
It is a shame if your no claims bonus is reset just because of a broken windscreen or other mishap when you are otherwise a careful driver and keep your motorhome well-maintained and looked after. With this in mind, you can take out optional no claims bonus protection with your Park Home Assist motorhome insurance.
We hope this quick guide helps you find insuring your motorhome an easier process.
